Via’s paratransit service will increase rider fares effective September 1, 2016. Why? The last time Via raised rider fares was in 2003. The cost per trip has increased almost 50% since then. Increased driver wages and benefits, fuel costs, vehicle maintenance and liability insurance and investments in time-saving technology have all contributed to the almost $30 cost per trip. While rider fares cover less than seven percent of the full cost of the trip, they are an important piece of the funding picture Via needs to provide your trips.
What are the new fares? Effective September 1, 2016, the new fares will be:
- Local within-town, one-way fares will be $3.00
- Town-to-town (between communities) one-way fares will be $6.00
- Rural – Nederland, Lyons, Estes Park and Tri-Valley – within town – one-way fares will be $2.00
Riders who have very low incomes may qualify for reduced fares. Call 303-447-2848 ext. 1037 for more information.
Beginning September 1, you can purchase fare books of 10 online through Via’s website.
