City of Littleton contracts Via Mobility Services to operate Omnibus

The City of Littleton and Via Mobility Services (Via) announced today that Littleton’s Omnibus service will be operated by Via beginning February 15, 2021.

Access to affordable, accessible transportation options is essential to enhancing the independence and quality of life of all Coloradans.

The Omnibus is an appointment-based transportation service that has been assisting Littleton seniors and people living with disabilities with their mobility needs since 1974.

At its December 15 meeting, the Littleton City Council voted unanimously to take an outsourcing partnership approach to provide these transportation services in 2021.

In 2020, the pandemic caused the city to pause Omnibus operations for an extended period. During this time, the city evaluated the Omnibus service and determined that contracting for this service was the most cost-effective solution for the city.

In February 2021, Omnibus joined the Via transportation network. Service for Omnibus clients largely stays the same: clients will still ride on an Omnibus vehicle, and trips are available from any origin to any destination within the City of Littleton.

Starting February 15, 2021, Omnibus will be operated by Via. This transition will increase Omnibus service availability in Littleton without sacrificing the quality of service that Omnibus riders expect.

Service within the City of Littleton is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Littleton residents 60 years old or older or any adult with a disability. Service to Kaiser Permanente in Centennial and the Tri-County Health Department in Englewood is also available.

“Since 1979, Via has operated our nonprofit door-through-door paratransit service with the same care and concern that you’ve come to expect from Omnibus. We are approaching this transition to limit any drastic changes. As of February 15, we will consider all Omnibus clients a part of our Via family, and we will work hard to serve their needs,” said Frank Bruno, Via’s CEO.

Enhancing mobility is Via’s cause. Mobility is not a car or a bus—it’s the feeling of freedom that comes from knowing you can move when and where you want. Via looks forward to serving the residents of Littleton.
