Thank you for being part of our community. Via Mobility Services, in partnership with the Peak to Peak Housing & Human Services Alliance, provides Mountain Rides, a free public transportation service serving Gilpin County.

Service Days and Hours

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
10:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Mountain Rides is open to everyone and operates wheelchair-accessible buses to support riders with mobility needs and those who use mobility devices.

Service Area

Mountain Rides travels along the Peak to Peak Highway between Ward and Rollinsville, with scheduled stops in Ward, Nederland, and Rollinsville.

Mountain Rides provides transportation for a variety of needs, including medical appointments, work, school, shopping, personal errands, and access to community services and resources.

The service is FREE thanks to grant funding and local community support.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I need to be an older adult to ride with Mountain Rides?
A. No. This service is available to ALL our community members regardless of age, health, or financial status.

Q. Do I have to live in the service area to ride?
A. No. We have fixed locations for community members who do not live in the service area. Please see the Mountain Rides official website for a list of fixed locations.

Q. Can my child ride with Mountain Rides?
A. Yes, a parent must ride with children up to age 12. (Please bring a car seat for infants and toddlers.) Children 13 – 17 can ride alone but must have a parent receive them at the destination.

Q. If I see Mountain Rides out, can I get on at any time?
A. No. Only at designated stops.

Q. How many people can be on the bus at one time?
A. The vehicle is a transit van that can seat up to 8 passengers at a time.

Q. I am in a wheelchair. Can I ride with Mountain Rides?
A. Yes. Our bus is wheelchair accessible, and our driver is trained to assist you.

Q. Can my dog ride with Mountain Rides?
A. Yes—your dog is welcome as long as it’s leashed and well-behaved. The driver has the right to refuse any rider, including dogs, if they believe it’s unsafe.
