Via Mobility Services Is Now Fare-Free

We are happy to share that, starting September 1, 2025, Via Mobility Services is fare-free. This means riders no longer pay fares for trips within a town or between towns.

Since 1979, Via has provided door-through-door paratransit service, focusing on safety, dignity, and independence. In a recent survey, 80% of riders said they need this type of support. Whether it’s helping with a wheelchair or offering a steady arm, our team is here to make sure every trip is safe and comfortable.

Going fare-free helps reduce the financial strain for many riders. More than 70% of riders have annual incomes under $30,000, often choosing between transportation, food, and medical needs.

This decision could also have the unintended consequence of stimulating additional demand at a time when resources are constrained. With the number of older adults and people with disabilities growing rapidly, the demand for assisted transportation services already exceeds available resources.

Despite these challenges, Via Mobility Services advocates at the local, state, and federal levels, while also conducting fundraising and public awareness campaigns.

Frank Bruno, CEO of Via Mobility Services, shared:

“As a local nonprofit, we can make decisions that put riders first. For 46 years, Via has served eight counties from the Denver metro area to the Wyoming border with paratransit, public shuttles, and microtransit. We also provide second-responder services to evacuate people during emergencies. To keep doing this work, we will continue partnering with local governments and fundraising, while staying creative and innovative.”

Thank you for trusting Via Mobility Services. We are proud to serve our community—now fare-free.

With care and commitment,
The Via Mobility Services Team
