The Summit Within Reach: Colt’s Journey of Resilience and Victory

“I was born visually impaired and with a hearing impairment. I lost my sight in 2012. I use Via to get home.” Colt, Via Rider.

In the heart of Colorado, amidst the majestic Rockies in Estes Park, lies a story of extraordinary courage and resilience. This is the story of Colt, a 30-something-year-old adventurer who conquered Longs Peak, defying the limits set by his severe hearing and vision impairments.

Embracing Challenges with Determination

Colt’s passion for the outdoors began in childhood. Despite losing his sight in 2012, he continued pursuing his love for hiking, climbing, and the outdoors. Colt’s ascent of the 14,259-foot summit of Longs Peak is a pinnacle of achievement. It symbolizes both a physical conquest and a rebellion against low expectations often associated with disabilities. His feat is a loud statement to the world: disabilities do not define one’s capabilities.

Living alone in Estes Park, Colt’s independence is intricately tied to Via Mobility. Via’s accessible transportation solutions allow Colt to navigate his daily life, from work at the YMCA of the Rockies to grocery store runs and social outings.
