What is Via Transporation?

Call-up, on-demand, door-through-door transportation.

Paratransit is an alternative mode of flexible passenger transportation that does not follow fixed routes or schedules. Via’s paratransit program is an on-demand, call-up, door-through-door transportation service from any origin to any destination in our service area. This is a shared ride service and schedules change daily based on where riders need to go. Drivers assist riders on and off the bus and you may request door-through-door assistance.

This service is the heart of Via.

A ride on our paratransit service is more than just a trip. While we get you from one place to another, what you’ll experience is so much more. A new community will open up to you while you ride including friendly, helpful drivers and other riders whom you’ll get to know.


How Do I Schedule A Ride?

It starts with one call. Before you can begin riding Via’s paratransit program, an intake/registration phone interview must be completed with one of Via’s Mobility Specialists. A family member or caregiver may complete the interview as well as request a ride.

You will be asked a few questions to assess your travel and mobility needs and to see if the paratransit program is right for you. If appropriate, the Mobility Specialist can schedule your first ride. Other transportation options may also be discussed.

Once the intake/registration process is completed by phone and you have become a registered rider, you may request a ride by phone or online.

    • Call Via’s Call Center at 303.447.9636 between the hours of 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday – Friday.
    • Reach us toll free at 888.647.9768.
    • Have the exact address of your destination(s).
    • You may schedule a trip from 1-7 days before the ride is needed.
    • Same day rides may be available.
    • You will know immediately whether your ride request can be fulfilled.
    • If your ride is confirmed, you will also receive an automated reminder call after 5 PM the day before your scheduled trip.
    • The online ride request is a request only. Unlike using the phone, you will not know immediately whether your ride can be fulfilled.
    • First-time riders must complete the phone intake/registration interview before using the online trip request system. At this time, you will be given a 5 digit customer identification number to be used for online trip requests.
    • The online trip request is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
    • You will be asked to enter your 5 digit customer ID number the first time only. Choose a username and password and follow the online instructions.
    • The online ride request must be made a minimum of 4 days in advance.

    • The same day ride cannot be requested online.
    • You will receive a call from Via’s Call Center regarding your ride request within 24 hours (M-F) or on the first business day following a weekend or holiday as to whether your request can be fulfilled.

We can take you almost anywhere you’d like to go within our paratransit service area including:

  • Grocery stores and other shopping destinations
  • Social events and other outings
  • Senior centers, recreation centers, and adult day programs
  • Employment, education and volunteer sites


How much does it cost to ride?

  • There is no cost to use Via’s services.

Fares are subject to change. All riders will be notified prior to any price change.

What Type of Vehicle Will I Ride On?

Via’s paratransit fleet is comprised of 51 vehicles including 9 Prius hybrids, 24 traditional wheelchair accessible paratransit vehicles, 17 MV-1 vehicles, 2 Ford Transit Vans, 1 Nissan Leaf, and 1 FordFlex.

Family & Friends Mileage Reimbursement

This program reimburses Via riders for the mileage expenses of family members, friends, or neighbors who provide a qualifying trip when Via cannot.

If Via cannot fit you into the regular schedule, you can request this option.

To receive reimbursement, all requests must be made in advance through Via’s Call Center by calling 303-447-9636, and forms must be submitted within 30 days.
