Celebrate the HOP bus route’s 21st birthday Oct. 7 through Oct. 14
One of Boulder’s iconic bus routes is turning 21. To celebrate, the City of Boulder invites the community to participate in a variety of events, special promotions and social media contests, Oct. 7 through Oct. 14. Partnering with CU-Boulder, RTD and Via Mobility Services, the city will provide free service on the HOP during the celebration week.
As part of a larger transit network in the Boulder area, the HOP is reaching a major milestone in its operational history. The HOP is one of three local bus routes that serve the downtown Boulder core, helping people get to work, school, errands and home. HOP launched service in October 1994 and currently provides more than 3,000 rides per day.
Free rides, Oct. 7 through Oct. 14: Enjoy a week of free rides. If you’ve never tried the HOP, or haven’t ridden the route lately, this is a great time to try it out for free.
Business Promotions with “HOP is 21” pins: As you board the HOP Oct. 7 through Oct. 14, pick up a free “HOP is 21” pin. The city has partnered with more than 50 businesses along the HOP route to bring riders special offers, discounts and promotions. Wear or show the pin to participating businesses and save money.
Oct. 7 Birthday Parties: HOP birthday parties will take place at select stops throughout the day. Grab a snack, t-shirt and HOP information.
Oct. 13 HOP Open House: Join City Council members, Transportation Advisory Board members and city staff as we tour a HOP bus and enjoy light refreshments on Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 5 to 6 p.m. at 1777 Broadway.
Social Media Contest: City of Boulder Facebook (Facebook.com/BoulderColorado.gov) friends and Twitter (@BoulderGoBldr) followers will have a chance to win prizes by participating in a variety of HOP-related contests, including a caption contest, voting contest and #ThrowbackThursday.
