Alexa’s Journey: Independence, Community, and the Ride to Happiness

For Alexa, a ride to the stable is more than transportation—it’s a pathway to community, joy, and self-reliance. Your support makes this possible.

Meet Alexa. Every week, like clockwork, Via Mobility Services arrives outside Alexa’s cozy apartment in the heart of Boulder County. Alexa is a young woman with an indomitable spirit, facing life’s challenges with courage and grace. Her gentle manner and radiant smile can light up any room. But it’s at the horse stable, nestled in the rural beauty of Boulder County, where her true happiness shines.

At Triple Creek Ranch, Alexa has found her sanctuary. Here, she boards her beloved horse, Winnie—a magnificent chestnut mare with a silky mane that flows like a river of sunlight. When Alexa is on horseback, she transforms. The burdens of the world seem to lift, replaced by unmistakable joy. Her face glows as she guides Winnie through sprawling meadows, completely at peace.

Alexa’s love extends beyond Winnie. She has a remarkable talent for remembering the history and personality of every horse grazing in the meadow. She knows their names, quirks, and stories and shares them with anyone willing to listen. For Alexa, the stable is not just a place to ride—it’s her second home, and the horses are her extended family.

April is a meaningful month for Alexa, signaling the arrival of spring and her birthday. This year, her special day brought an extra surprise. As she stepped into the tack room, her eyes lit up. Hanging on the wall was a colorful, handmade poster adorned with heartfelt birthday wishes, lovingly signed by the stable’s owner, fellow riders, and staff, all of whom had grown to admire and care for her.

Achieving independence has always been a monumental challenge for Alexa, but she has faced every obstacle with determination and courage. Despite living with a disability, she secured her own apartment—a welcoming space where her family gathers to celebrate her accomplishments. Alexa has become a symbol of resilience, demonstrating that with hard work and spirit, barriers can be overcome.

Alexa is also adept at navigating public transportation, often using buses and trains to get around. However, Triple Creek Ranch lies far from any bus route in the rural corners of Boulder County. Rather than relying on her parents for rides, Alexa took the initiative to arrange her own transportation through Via Mobility Services. She schedules her rides, pays for them, and makes her weekly trips independently.

These journeys are more than simple rides—they represent Alexa’s unyielding determination to live a self-reliant life. They reflect her strength, independence, and the pride she takes in carving her own path.

When her father arrived at the stable he said with a proud smile, “This is Alexa’s community.” And indeed, it was—a community that had not only welcomed Alexa but embraced her with love and admiration, celebrating her achievements and supporting her remarkable journey toward independence.
