Most who know Via know that we are a paratransit provider that offers transportation services and resources for older adults, people living with disabilities, and others facing mobility limitations. What many don’t know is how we generate revenue to support these mission services.
We have operated as a social enterprise for more than 25 years. Via’s three large earned-income contracts, the HOP, Access-a-Ride, and FlexRide, are revenue-generating transportation programs that provide significant financial support to Via’s founding mission services.
As you likely know, providing accessible transportation is expansive, so over the last several years, Via has worked hard to find new opportunities to grow our income to help us keep up with the ever-increasing demand for paratransit.
In addition to our three large earned-income contracts, Via is available for hire for group trips, we have ventured into new partnerships in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we continue to expand our seasonal contract services including:
- Park-to-Park – The Park to Park shuttle provides satellite parking and free shuttle service to and from Chautauqua Park in Boulder, to create a better visitor experience while reducing vehicular and parking impacts on neighbors and the area’s natural and cultural resources. This service is available on weekends from Memorial Day through September 7. Learn more.
- Eldo Shuttle – This bus service is available on weekends and holidays this summer and fall to carry passengers from Boulder to Eldorado Canyon State Park, which is a popular hiking, sightseeing, and climbing destination south of Boulder. Learn more.
- Eldora Shuttle – For the past few seasons, Eldora has offered free guest shuttles from Boulder to Eldora to complement RTD’s NB route. Learn more.
As we continue to grow into a more comprehensive community transit agency, we hope to serve you and your loved ones in new ways with the same caring, safe, reliable transportation options that you have come to expect.
We’ll see you on the road!
