New drivers will also learn how to support people with disabilities who use a variety of mobility devices.
Cecilia Younger was a Via driver before she became a trainer. That experience helps her anticipate and understand the needs of drivers.
She values being responsive and making sure drivers know the training team is always there for them.
Operations Specialist John Heins has been working at Via for several years in a variety of roles.
Now he supervises and supports HOP drivers, helping them be safe, prepared, and successful on the road.
Safety Specialist Ashley Patterson oversees safety regulations and helps drivers with safety concerns.
She prefers in-person conversations to help her understand and document any accidents that happen on the road.
She’s also the person drivers go to if they sustain an injury and need modified duties.
Lead Bus Detailer Claire Brown takes pride in keeping Via’s vans, shuttles, and buses clean and tidy. After all, the vehicles are drivers’ home away from home.
In addition to liking to drive, applicants should be patient, kind, and open to a little adventure, she says.
