St. Vrain Community Hub hosting “Portraits of Ability” Exhibit

The Boulder County Department of Housing and Human Services will host “Portraits of Ability: Stories of Independence and Inspiration” November 1 through February 28 at the St. Vrain Community Hub, 515 Coffman St, Longmont, CO 80501. The free exhibit is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.

“Portraits of Ability” is a photojournalism exhibit presented by Via in partnership with VSA Colorado.

The mission of Via, a private nonprofit organization established in 1979, is to promote independence and self-sufficiency for people with limited mobility by providing caring, customer-focused transportation options. “Portraits of Ability” features 15 “portrait-stories” of people Via serves, including unique images and narratives which share a common theme – that of striving to not be defined by disability or age. The spirit and rich sense of who each person is – beyond their mobility challenges – is captured in photo-portraits taken by New York portrait artist Sophie Klafter. The exhibit was curated by the VSA Colorado/Access Gallery, the state organization on disabilities and the arts.

The St. Vrain Community Hub believes every client deserves easy access to a wide range of supports in one place, including access to transportation options. The Hub provides a holistic approach to meeting clients where they are – and helps guide them along a more personalized and positive path toward stability and self-sufficiency.
