On Friday, October 11, 2024, Via Mobility Services newest electric bus, a 14-passenger body-on-chassis, traveled to the Academy retirement community on Mapleton Hill in Boulder to pick up participants for a day-long, carbon-free Magical Mystery Tour through Boulder Canyon to the Wild Bear Nature Center in Nederland.
The first stop was at the City of Boulder’s hydroelectric facility. In 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt granted the Boulder watershed to the city, prompting community leaders to harness the natural power of Boulder Creek as it flowed from the Continental Divide to Boulder. By 1910, the Central Colorado Power Company began operating the Boulder Canyon Hydro Plant, providing power to Boulder, neighboring towns, businesses, and even parts of northern Denver.
The group continued to the new Wild Bear Nature Center construction site in Nederland. Wild Bear board members and potential donors celebrated milestones in the construction process, enjoying a boxed lunch and a presentation on the new center. Via was pleased to partner with Wild Bear, donating both our time and our new EV bus to recognize the importance of our two great nonprofit organizations, both committed to environmental and community sustainability.
